EBC Brake-InTM coating is applied to all production disc brake pads and accelerates the bed-in or break-in of EBC brake products when fitted as new onto any automobile. When fitting new brake pads, there is a period of time when the brakes are less effective unless a surface coating such as Brake-In TM is applied. During this break-in period the EBC Brakes product will deliver superb brake pedal feel and stopping power due to the high friction characteristics of this coating. Often the brake rotor surface is not smooth and if brake rotor replacement has not been done, or the brake rotors have not been turned, the rough or uneven surface of the brake rotor causes a reduction in brake efficiency. The EBC Brake-InTM coating is approximately 0.020" in thickness and can actually compensate for a limited wear pattern on the brake rotor. The Brake-InTM coating wears off over the first 200 miles of driving when the brake pads are in full contact with the brake rotor.
This is particularly useful to professional mechanics who do not wish to have to test drive a vehicle after brake installation to determine brake efficiency. It is sufficient to install the EBC Brakes product and hand the keys to the customer with the necessary driver warnings that the brake feel will be quite sharp after pad install and will gradually settle down as the brake coating wears away.
