EBC Bluestuff NDX Formula Racing Brake Pads - Page 2 |

The GTO in Australia is known of course as the Holden Commodore and this very quick version shown above run by Emotional Engineering in the British GT series ran EBC Bluestuff throughout the long 1 hour races in its season. It also performed excellently in the FIA GT World series in France. |
||||||
For several years EBC Brakes has been developing its full race pads for cars called Bluestuff and after a few final modification in 2009 is preparing to release this material known as Formula NDX in fall/autumn 2009 for the 2010 season. The NDX Formula is a harder and longer lasting pad than its stablemate the Yellowstuff compound and has been very succesfully run on heavier cars including the Holden(Vauxhall) Monaro which weighs in at over 3600 lbs ( almost 1.7 tons) and as such is a much better test of the typical "3000 pound" USA race cars. Whilst EBC Brakes Yellowstuff has worked out very well in Europe on Trackday and short even closed circuit racing its high friction characteristics cause it to wear quite quickly on heavier cars and longer races, making the Blue NDX grade the ideal upgrade. |

| EBC Bluestuff USA ......First test weekend with Race Driver George Penn in a 4000 lb stock GTO at VIR in USA. George ran 3 x 45 minute sessions on the E 366 compound EBC Blue before finally toasting the pads. The EBC formulation was then upgraded to enhance life and is being retested shortly. The stock PBR caliper only allows a 14.0 mm pad which is not enough for a car of this speed and weight and encourages us to caution drivers to monitor wear every 120 minutes of trackday driving on the GTO. | ||||||

"Wow, the way the Blues performed this weekend were well beyond my expectations. I had to completely relearn brake zones because I could push so much deeper. The performance and durability of the 2081s was leaps ahead of both the old formula and the HT-10s I cooked in the prior weekend. I can't consider my brakes a weakness anymore and I should be on the podium every single event. The Blues even have me thinking I should keep the beautiful 14" Stoptechs BBK in the garage so I don't get bumped up a race class." |

"I use EBC products on most of my cars and am glad to help with development any time we can. We have a great facility here at the MotorSport Ranch www.motorsportranch.com that allows us to test regularly, 12 months a year . I have used EBC products on a variety of heavier high HP cars and am willing to evaluate additional compounds. Vehicles include Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche GT3 Cup Race car; Dodge Viper, and even Ferrari F40. the street cars see street use as well." |

"Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that the Blues work great in AutoX. Sunday I drove in the first Autocross of the year for NASA Mid Atlantic. With Temperatures in the low 50s and overcast, I thought I’d be testing in the rain but the weather held out. The immediate impressions I got using the blue in autocrossing was that they definitely bite even when cold. I broke harder than usual to try and give them a workout, thinking that I might need to get the rotor temps up in order to take full advantage of the pads. The two hour heat had only about 25 cars so I was getting a run about every 8-10 minutes for the entire two hours. I took temperature readings on the rotors after every run and the hottest I got the rotors was just under 200 degrees Farenheit. Since this was an autocross, I did not have any brake ducts for extra cooling. As I expected, my front temperatures were slightly higher than the rear. But even at under 200 degrees the Blues performed better than I thought. Not too bad for a car and driver weight of right at 4000 pounds on OEM style plain faced rotors. Over all, I was able to carry more speed before braking, brake harder and later. I also started getting a better sense of exactly where the antilock threshold was to the point it became more predictable. Much more so than the yellows. I know they are not really meant for it, but since I am lazy I have left the blues on for every day street driving as well and they are surprisingly street friendly and rotor friendly. I am looking at several road course events over the next two months. Hopefully I can get up with George and we can both get out to VIR at the same time." Material: DM2081 Outside temp: 55 degrees Humidity 73% Weather: Overcast Surface temp: 53 degrees Max rotor temp recorded: 192 F |

"After testing back to back at Rockingham in a pre season shake down we were impressed on the feel of the new Bluestuff brake pad. We have used Yellowstuff brake pads for the last 2 seasons with no issues. The big test will be rounds 1 & 2 at Brands. Brands hatch, what a cracking circuit testing for the drivers and the car. From performance in qualifying we again were impressed in the bite and pedal feel with the new EBC Brakes pad. After the races at Brands we have to say the pads worked really well and did not fade at all at the end of each race. We set class pole and fastest lap for the day and with the improvements in set up and Brakes we look forward to the rest of the season. Thanks to the boys at EBC for letting us try the compound. We look forward to a cracking season." |
