Automotive Race Driver Feedback - Yellowstuff - 4000 "R" Series |
|
|
David E Nichols - Rally Driver |
Our last race we had a mostly dry line, and the YellowStuff brake pads worked great. Very linear response, great stopping power, no fade. If they’re that good on a dry track & in higher ambient temps, I’m sold!

"Thanks for the chance to respond with our comments! So far so good. The inital bite is MUCH better than the stock pad, and they do not seam to fade. I have not gotten them really hot yet, but I have gotten them as hot as the stock pads would start to fade, and nothing from the Yellowstuff brakes!"

Braking was absolutely fantastic. I was able to go very deep into the turns before braking. Carrying lots of my speed. Zero fade all day. No squeal either. And almost no dust. Rotors look good. Not groved or checkered.
Was able to make up a lot of my time with the repeated late-braking. So far, the best pad that I have run for HPDE/TT (Hawk HT10, GranSport GS4 also used).

Jim Martz Racing with Yellowstuff Brake Pads |
| |
This past weekend was my first Auto-X in the Yellowstuff Brake Pads after the break in. I was thoroughly impressed, and will continue to support your products when they deliver performance like this. I passed on the offer to several forum members, and have told roughly 25-30 other people what I am running for pads, which looks good for you considering I was 2nd in PAX on the weekend with 70 drivers there. Thanks again for an awesome opportunity.

I want to thank the folks at EBC again for the opportunity to try out the EBC Brakes Yellowstuff on my 3000GT. I've had the brake pads on the car for a couple of months now so I thought I might let you guys know how they're working out.
When I first installed pads and went out on a break-in drive I thought the pedal felt very mushy and the braking wasn't very responsive. I didn't want to blame it on air in the lines right away so I finished the break-in procedure and drove the car around for another week. A week and a couple of hundred miles later the pads felt much better in terms of pedal feel and initial bite. I'd say that the Yellowstuff brakes gave me a firmer pedal feel than the Hawk HPS pads that I had on the car.
During performance driving the pads worked great. I ran autocross events with Hoosier A6 R-compound tires with the Yellowstuff and they matched the grip of the tires very well. I had consistently strong braking throughout my runs and had no problems with heat.
The pads worked well for daily driving too. I never had a problem with lack of braking force in cold temperatures. I did, however, run into the same problem a lot of other people have talked about which is how much the pads dusted. I just switched over to some dark colored wheels so the dusting is not all that apparent anymore.
I think the Yellowstuff is a great product and hope to try out the Bluestuff NDX brakes for some road course HPDE events in the future. Thanks again!
(Comment from EBC tech, we don’t sell Yellowstuff as a LOW dust pad, this is clear in all our literature, also our Bluestuff is not a low dust pad either, however comparing the dust emitted from EBC pads which is quite easy to remove semi metallics from ALL our competition the EBC dusting is less and also less aggressive on alloys) |

WARRANTY ON ALL EBC ROTORS AND PADS IS SIX MONTHS FROM PURCHASE
OR 10,000 MILES AND EXCLUDES RACE USE.
Please note THERE IS NO WARRANTY whatsoever for any EBC product used in Rally, Racing or Trackday, (Trackday use is tougher on brakes) because of the very demanding environment of racing. Loads ,speeds, track length and format and especially driving styles can vary immensely and can dramatically affect pad life . Standard brake systems even on modern cars are not normally designed for racing and may be totally unsuitable for race use. Simply changing to what we call a "Race formula" pad does not provide you with a race car.Acquaint yourself safely in a test mode to evaluate if any material you use for racing is suitable in terms of braking power, fade resistance and WEAR LIFE. Monitor wear carefully every few laps when first applying products to race or rally cars to avoid an unforeseen short life issue. In spite of the fact that EBC brakes has had many successes in race use of its products no one pad can solve all brake issues and requirements. This race tech advice is a completely free service given by our race technical staff on our UK hotlines. Such advice is given and accepted on a no warranty, no guarantee, no prejudice basis. |
