Met Test |
|||
The MET or using its full name, Metropolitan Police Force is the UK's primary crime fighting organisation which has developed a method of testing products such as brakes for the arduous conditions under which police vehicles are used. This test gained the nickname "MET Test" and is an exhaustive on-vehicle test done on a closed circuit track or roadway under close scrutiny by both the police force and the VCA (Vehicle Certification Organisation) and is regarded as the toughest test in brakes known. Far more probing than the European ECE R90 brake safety test, the MET test involves high speed braking ability testing and pedal pressure evaluation which determines how the vehicles hydraulics will react under constant heat and pressure of heavy braking. EBC Brakes underwent this test at Wroughton (RAF Wroughton) Airforce Base in September 2006 using EBC's Yellowstuff sport and race material. The test involved two types of Ford Focus. The test includes 50 concurrent stops from 50mph to zero, measuring pedal travel, stopping distance, deceleration or G force. All measurements were verified by data logging equipment operated by a VCA engineer who actually passengers in the car. |
