Road Trips, Brakes and Supplies |
Many people all over the world dream of road trip holidays across the US, down Route 66 between Florida and Los Angeles, stopping at the motels and cafes along the way. The varied landscapes and historic sites are amazing to see, both for those who live near to them and travellers. When setting off on a road trip across the states, many Americans, and those from elsewhere, prefer to have a good old American car to do the hard work for them, and eat up the miles and miles of highways. No matter what sort of car you choose when starting out on a road trip, make sure it is safe and reliable. There should always be a sense of adventure when on a travelling holiday, but accidents and break downs are definitely best avoided! No matter how you use your vehicle, you should always ensure it is in a roadworthy condition. Keeping parts like tires and brakes in good working order is really important, if you are uncertain of whether your brakes are functioning as well as they should be, or if they have begun to make grating or squealing noises, it is best to get them checked out by a reputable mechanic. If tires are overly worn or otherwise damaged, get them replaced. Always remember tires are a vehicles sole contact with the pavement – they keep you on the road and have an impact on how effective your brakes are. Make sure your car has enough oil and all other fluid levels under the bonnet are acceptable. These factors are always important, but especially so if you’re about to embark on a long journey. If your vehicle needs work along the way, you may well not know which mechanics are the best to visit – or you may not even have any choice about which you use. As well as a number of practical items – clothes, blankets, drinking water, food and car necessities, it is great to take a camera along with you on your road trip. When you get back home you can show your family and friends some of the spectacular scenery from your travels, and capture your friends (and yourself!) by some famous landmarks. In years to come, your photographs can remind you of your adventure across the states. You may well find places you wish to visit time and time again, or cafes that serve food you are sure to want to eat more often than is practical! Many choose to take a drive across the United States in the summer months, when the weather is at its best, but the spring and the fall can also be really beautiful, though the weather is less predictable. No matter when you choose to explore, or whereabouts you are headed, always put safety first. Make sure you are able to have fond memories. Keep your vehicle maintained, replace parts like brakes and tires when needed, and take emergency supplies like blankets, water, a first aid kit and food which will keep well. With careful planning, you’ll be free to enjoy your road trip all the more. |
