Stay on the Road

Since the beginning of humanity individuals have sought items which demonstrate their wealth or position in society.  This not only applied to those of great wealth, status was also important among ordinary folks.  This is still very much the case today, and many people feel the possession which says the most about them is their vehicle.  Large numbers of people feel more confident expressing their tastes through a vehicle than they would through clothing or even decor in their own home.  This is probably because individuals tend to feel secure in their car or truck, or on their motorcycle.  This is not necessarily always a good thing as the roads can be extremely dangerous, but is understandable to feel secure in your own space, what strangers driving passed think is not important.

The variety of vehicles on our roads and highways today demonstrates the fact that the motor industry understands the differing needs and tastes of their consumers.  Some choose their drive based purely on practicality – smaller motors can be economical to run, and motorcycles can be useful in beating congestion in big cities.  Those who work or live in the countryside often need large 4X4s, farmers and ranchers need to patrol their lands to check on livestock and crops.  Inhabitants of outlying houses or villages often need these vehicles to visit their local shops due to poorly made pavements and/or severe weather.  No matter what kind of vehicle is used, keeping it properly maintained is important for both the safety of its occupants and other road users.  It goes without saying that brakes, tires, steering and suspension need checking at regular intervals, as do levels of oil, coolant and other substances under the hood.  Most drivers know that when brakes start to squeal, grate or perform differently than usual, they need checking by a professional mechanic.  Brakes get worn over time, and spotting when pads are wearing thin and replacing them in a timely fashion can often prevent rotors becoming damaged and an even higher repair bill.
