Why the ATV is so popular |
A large amount of people need to use ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) on a regular basis. They can be really important vehicles in situations in which a variety of terrains need to be crossed efficiently, for example on farms and ranches. The ANSI (American National Standards Institute) defines an ATV as a vehicle that is straddled by the operator, has handlebars for steering and runs on low pressure tires. There are a range of makes and models available that can cater for the needs of a wide range of people. ATVs vary in design and engine size, generally speaking in the USA engines can range from 49cc to 1000cc (49cc – 700cc in two stroke models). They can have three, four or even six wheels. If you are thinking of purchasing one it is best to do your research and see which will bets suit your own needs. If you are looking to purchase your first ATV it will be worth your while to do as much research as you can. Consider what you need from the vehicle, how much you have to spend and additional maintenance for each model. If you have friends or acquaintances who already have an ATV ask them for their recommendations, while of course taking into account how they use their vehicle in contrast with how you will be using yours. Remember that once purchased, your all terrain vehicle will need regular checks like any other vehicle, and that you will need to replace parts such as ATV brakes and tires at intervals. Once you have made your choice, enjoy your ATV safely! |
