I took my car to Pep Boys and rode along with an ASC certified tech to diagnose the problem I have been experiencing. He agreed the problem was most likely from the rear but said he felt a slight vibration in the wheel and uneven pressure in the pedal when coming to a stop as did I. Since I don’t have the time to have the back done and risk having to do the front later if it didn’t cure the problem I decided to do both axles. As it turns out the DTV was the issue, you can call it install run-out or a car problem but the disc thickness was not true from the start. I asked the tech to pull off the discs prior to the on car lathe and inspect the hubs to ensure I had cleaned and prepped the hubs properly. He said they look cleaner than a new hub and didn’t see anything that would indicate an installation problem. Having said that the problem is solved and the car stops as it should with good pedal pressure and no vibration. I would like to thank you for the Pep-Boys recommendation; the cost with tax for both axles was only $92.00! After spending $396.00 for EBC Red-Stuff pads and rotors I don’t think rotors should have to be turned prior to installation but perhaps I’m wrong. Even so, the grand total of $488.00 it is less than half of what Infinity charges for pads and rotors all around, and I am confident that the red stuff pads will provide superior stopping power and longevity in the long.
