I just swapped out my Ferrodo DS2500's to try out my EBC yellows. I will tell you I am pleasantly suprised with them. I have them on the front for the moment and will be adding them to the rear once I get the depth of the pad shaved down to the d51 that I need for my special app.
The initial break-in is dusty due to the red break-in layer on top of the actual friction material. There was some slight squeals to be heard as the pads seated against my fairly smooth rotors. Dust has reduced to just above OEM levels at this point. It appears that the dust will be less as they completely seat up to the rotor.
The initial bite is not harder than the best I've felt (mintex extreme pads), but damn near close. They feel very linear and very good overall. I have not taken them to a road course yet but they have done very well in heavy street driving. They grab better the hotter they get, however, the cold bite is just fine for daily driving.
I only have several hundred miles on them and will post up more info as they bed in. They are over 90% bedded in.
I want to thank ebc for providing the pads for this reveiw. The only drawback at this point is that my calipers look like they came from Mcdonalds.
Stay tuned for more on the yellows as i get the rears modded and installed. EBC red pad review to follow.
