I did a total of 188 laps with the new pads..... and they were still awesome!!! I am going to use them again at barber (the same set that is in the bike right now) !!!!! It was a total of 17 sessions (heat cycles) the first 3 sessions were pretty short 3 - 4 laps each time out. of the 17 sessions 4 were races, 2 were qualifying and the rest were practice.
Pad thickness - total thickness including backing plate 7.87 mm - the pad material alone is 3.76 mm thick
The pads were super consistent. The initial improvement over the older pads of course is the HUGE improvement in feel and a drop in initial bite when you first pull the lever in (the old pads had TOO much initial bite and were hard to ride on) The initial bite that is lost gives you WAY more confidence when entering the corners knowing that you can continue to change your speed and chassis geometry with the front brake lever (I used to have to either be off the brakes after you tip in or be ready to catch the front when you lose it because the brakes would hit so hard when you first pulled in the lever)
The first session on the pads was great - good feel - very consistent over the whole session and reasonable full pressure stopping power (wasn't great but good) . The second session the pads felt exactly the same as the first session but the max stopping power improved a bit. The third session the max stopping power improved again. By this point the pads had more (or definitely the same) max stopping ability than the old pads and still had incredible feel, and trail braking ability. Every time after this that I rode the bike the pads felt exactly the same. They never overheated or "glazed over", they felt the same from the first lap to the last lap. I cannot say enough about these new pads!!! They absolutely rock!!! I dont think that I will be able to ride on the old pads any more. :) |
