Andrew Smyth uses EBC’s braking components on his Kawasaki race bike
Northern Ireland-based Andrew Smyth of the Andrew Smyth Racing outfit has successfully competed in BSB’s Superstock 600 series for the last few years.
Riding on a Kawasaki ZX6R 600cc superbike, Smyth uses EBC Brakes Racing’s GPFAX sintered motorsport brake pads (up front) and HH sintered brake pads (on the rear), as well as X-Series floating discs.
As well as the first few rounds of BSB, Smyth has also been competing in some guest series for the first half of 2024, not least in the Ulster Superbike Championship.
The fourth round of this particular series took the roadshow back to Kirkistown Racing Circuit, where Smyth pulled another overall podium out of the bag following a fantastic weekend’s racing action.
Read how he got on below in his own words…
“I recently took part in the fourth round of the Ulster Championship at Kirkistown.”
Qualifying:
“I ended up qualifying on the front row of the grid in 4th position; whilst I was happy with a front-row start, I wasn’t really feeling very comfortable on the bike so we made a few changes for the first race.”
Race One:
“I got a great start and was able to go with the front guys, still wasn’t getting the feeling I was used to from the bike, but was very happy to bring it home in 3rd.
Race Two:
“We made some more changes before the start of the race, got off to another great start and this time the bike felt like my own, I crossed the line in 4th position to give 3rd overall on the day, so all in all a good day at the office.
“Massive thanks to the Belfast & District Motorcycle Club Limited, Scrutineers, Marshalls and first aid for a very well run event.
“Thanks as always to the guys that keep the wheels turning.”
